Original Egmont Key Lighthouse Painting
This original Egmont Key lighthouse painting is a seascape capturing the beautiful turquoise waters of Ft. Desoto State park rushing against the shoreline of this Egmont Key lighthouse. Egmont Key is a designated wildlife refuge and serves as a barrier island between Tampa and St. Petersburg Florida. Built in the mid 1800’s, it is claimed to stand around 76″-87 feet tall. It is said that the lighthouse lights can be seen from up to 20 miles away.
Egmont key has a rich history including the Spanish War and hurricane damage to the lighthouse not long after construction. As of today, this lighthouse is still functioning and serving many mariners.
