Before the Storm Lighthouse Painting Inspiration

My affection for the ocean combined with a fantastic Spurn Point Lighthouse reference from the talented photographer Michael Gibbons is the foundation for this oil painting titled Before the Storm.

Stormy seas always feel mysterious to me. Since my days spent on the beach and ocean, I’ve always enjoyed watching the storms brewing over the ocean. It’s such a beautiful sight and the water nearly glows.

Before the Storm Process

Most of this painting was created with a paintbrush, but the texture was added to the lighthouse with a painting knife.

The woman and light at the top of the lighthouse came from my imagination.
