Experiencing Emotions

As human beings we all experience negative emotions from time to time.

Often it reveals something within us that we need to heal. It’s important to acknowledge them and employ coping techniques.

For example yesterday I just felt challenged every corner I turned. As the day passed, I was trying to calm down bit had yet another incident that caused me to become very frustrated.

When I start feeling the frustration build like that often I have to walk away from the situation and everyone else around me.

Coping Mechanisms

It’s important that we all have healthy coping mechanisms for when challenging situations arise. Here are some of the ones that I found to help.

  • Exerciseise
  • Listening to calming music
  • Hiking
  • Gardening
  • Hobbies
  • Warm Baths
  • Meditation

One of my favorite places to go when I’m feeling overly frustrated is to our home gym. After my frustration built yesterday, I was heading towards our home gym when one of my rescue dogs who is very close to me wanted to come along.

As I was doing leg curls and was about 75 – 80% through my workout, I was equally feeling 80 to 90% better.

Suddenly my dog as seen in this picture puts her paws up on front of the bench in front of me when I was working out. She pulled herself up this way and was looking me right in the face.

Now you can imagine I was in a serious mood but when she did this it just cracked me up. I laughed so hard at her that I knew I was then a 100% better. She next followed me over to the bench where I was able to snap this really fun photo.

I do find that having healthy coping techniques helps us navigate challenging situations in life. This is a reminder that everything does pass if you give it just a little bit of time.

I hope you have a wonderful day and I wish you all the best.
