November is a traditional month in the United States where we practice Thanksgiving, but you don’t have to be in the USA to practice Gratitude. Although I’m not as caught up in the traditions one thing I do enjoy is the trend of practicing gratitude.
Gratitude Quickly Shifts Your Mindset
Did you know that gratitude is one of the quickest ways to change our mindset? Studies show practicing gratitude improves our overall mental health. By helping you shift your mindset and focus on the things that matter to you. It increases our level of happiness and how we view everyday situations.
For example, I admit I find cleaning a chore that often makes me feel disgruntled. When I catch myself doing this I remind myself to change my thinking to be thankful that I do have:
- a home with a roof over my head keeping me safe and secure
- fresh running water to clean with
- a family to feed, a family who loves me.
When I put this into practice it reminds me that things could be much different but I’m counting my blessings and suddenly those chores are bearable and I even start to feel happy about my chores.
Start Your Day With Gratitude
In today’s fast pace and technological advances, many of us wake up and jump into what we have to do for the day or pick up our phone right away to check to see if we’ve missed anything.
Gratitude Challenge
My challenge to you this month is before you even get out of bed, upon opening your eyes think of one bring to mind one thing you’re grateful for. This can be as simple as being thankful to have:
- a warm bed to sleep in
- thankful the sun is shining outside
- Be thankful you have fresh water
I find that when I change my focus like this suddenly I feel very blessed. When we can shift our mindset like this we’re able to create a positive environment that attracts more blessings to us.
Finding Gratitude
My goal is to post a gratitude prompt each day this month. I’d love to hear back from you at the end of the month to see if this shifted your mindset.
Meanwhile, I’m focusing on a lot of behind-the-scenes work while completing my bear painting.
Wishing you a wonderful month.
