For example, when I paint this much detail, I do use a reference photo to capture the detail. After completing the Golden Encounters painting, I did another detailed painting of a bear that I’ve since tweaked and waiting to photograph before sharing. With the holidays approaching, I decided I didn’t want to focus hard. Instead, I’m feeling the need for a mental break, so I decided to play around in my studio to see what my imagination came up with. Although I do paint from imagination sometimes, such as the women in the following paintings, sometimes I feel it’s a challenge to get to that space.
You can view this Appearing Hat painting at the Art Haus in Atlanta, Georgia. The available and collectible Contemplation painting below is from my book cover. You can read more about it here https://tinasfinearts.com/product/contemplation/
After playing with some acrylic pours and abstracts as I do from time to time between intense paintings, I sat down with a blank canvas and my imagination. I’m pretty happy with what I came up with and plan to do this exercise more because it fosters creativity.
Did you know that the simple act of doodling and working with repeating patterns foster creativity and help focus? I’ve been studying these benefits of art and might be sharing more of it with you next year.
Wishing you all the best.
